DOTM Teamwork and Communication 2026
Program Description
DOTM Staff will communicate in an effective manor using the strategies taught in the teamwork and communication courses. The staff will have the communication skills to engage in crucial conversations. Staff will develop the skills to give constructive feedback and facilitate closing an expectation gap. The team will use communication skills in an interdisciplinary setting to effectively relay information to develop a shared mental model of patient care goals. They will use teamwork strategies taught in the courses to meet these care goals in a dynamic critical care setting.
This series includes the following four courses available to staff in the Department of Transport Medicine:
- Navigating Transport Team Dynamics
- Crucial Conversations
- Crucial Accountability

Learning Objectives
- Apply teamwork and communication strategies to engage in crucial conversations, provide constructive feedback, and close expectation gaps within an interprofessional critical care team.
- Utilize learned communication techniques in simulated high-stress scenarios to clearly and effectively relay critical information, fostering a shared mental model of patient care goals.
