Crucial Accountability December 2026

Washington, DC US
December 4, 2026

This course builds on Crucial Conversations to help participants develop advanced skills for facilitating safe, effective, and solution-oriented conversations. Through instruction, role-plays, and interactive exercises, learners will explore techniques for creating psychological safety, communicating expectations, and addressing gaps in understanding. Using the Six Sources of Influence framework, participants will assess how internal and external factors impact communication and practice motivating others by making consequences visible. By course end, learners will have the tools to bridge communication gaps, inspire change, and influence others in high-stakes situations. This course is designed for those who have completed Crucial Conversations.

Target Audience

  • Nurses
  • Paramedics

Learning Objectives

  1. Participants will apply principles for creating conversation safety and analyze methods for communicating expectations in comparison to what was observed. Participants will communicate expectation to others while maintaining a safe conversation. Participants will demonstrate through role play.
  2. Participants will assess what is causing a gap using the Six Sources of Influence. Participants will be able to identify how other people and outside influences are impacting the gaps when having a conversation.
  3. Participants will analyze and apply how to motivate others by identifying natural consequences of the gap, explore all three sources of motivation, and make visible consequences that may not be easily seen. Participants will be able to use these techniques to motivate others and close the communication gap, putting a solution into action.
