This 6.5-hour Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) course focuses on recognizing the patterns of thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and appearance that show there might be a problem rather than focusing on specific illness. Participants are taught the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan (ALGEE) that they can apply to non-crisis and crisis scenarios.

The goal of this activity is to ensure the interdisciplinary team in the NICU is fully prepared to respond effectively to emergencies, including code events and man-made or natural disasters. Through the Professional Practice Day, the team will enhance their knowledge and apply it in simulation exercises, improving their ability to provide safe and efficient patient care during critical situations.

This training will ensure all staff are proficient in trauma care, equipment use, and critical decision-making in both trauma and transport environments. Participants will gain skills for safe operations in critical care flight settings, effective communication, and patient triage.
