This educational program aims to enhance nursing staff’s knowledge, skills, and cultural sensitivity in caring for LGBTQ+ youth. Through a two-hour interactive session, participants explore real-life scenarios, youth perspectives, and practical strategies to provide inclusive, affirming care.

Learning Objectives

  1. Integrate nursing staff sensitivity in the DC public school system for the healthcare delivery of youth who identify as LGBTQ+
  2. Explain terms related to gender identification and sexual orientation.
  3. Discuss culturally congruent care.
  4. Apply appropriate language when communicating with LGBTQ+ patients and their families.
  5. Apply four shared meanings related to culturally congruent care of the individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ at CSS.
