PICU Practicum (2-Day) March 2026
The PICU Practicum is a two-day immersive course where participants attend multidisciplinary rounds, review cases, and apply treatment plans to simulated critical care transport scenarios. Learners will compare PICU and transport ventilators, practice setup and troubleshooting, and apply DOTM and PICU protocols for safe dosing and administration of Code and RSI medications.

Learning Objectives
- Participants attend multidisciplinary rounds to analyze diagnosis and treatment plans of patient populations common to the PICU setting. They participate in the follow up discussions, including xray review. Participants will plan care for these patients in critical care transport setting.
- Participants will compare the transport ventilators to PICU ventilator settings. They will apply information from the diagnosis, assessments and treatment plans to simulate patient transports on the ventilator, to include setting up the ventilator, programing the ventilator, troubleshooting, and making adjustments for patient reassessments.
- Participants will evaluate Code and RSI medication administration. Participants will apply DOTM and PICU protocol for the dosing and administration of Code and RSI medication, including routes and special considerations.
