Charge Nurse Workshop (2026)
Course Description
The goal of the charge nurse workshop is to empower participants with essential knowledge and skills for the charge nurse role. It focuses on understanding the responsibilities of charge nurses, managing stress, and enhancing communication within healthcare teams. Participants will also learn to identify their strengths and weaknesses, navigate escalation procedures, implement conflict resolution strategies, and recognize available resources, ultimately fostering effective leadership and improved patient care.
Pre-Work Requirement (Must Be Completed Prior to Attending the Workshop)
All pre-requisite assignments must be completed in RNsConnect prior to the workshop. These include:
- Leadership Video

- Charge RN Role in Conflict Resolution Video
- Charge Nurse Competency Confidence Assessment
- 2025 RN Stress Survey
You will receive an email from the course director with instructions on how to access and complete the pre-work. Please ensure all requirements are finished before the class session.

- Demonstrate key communication skills necessary for optimal interactions with team members, patients, and families.
- Apply the principles of the communication process (interprofessional and patient/family) to the charge nurse role.
- Identify when, how, and to whom to escalate issues in various clinical situations to ensure patient safety and care quality.
- Demonstrate effective conflict management strategies to the charge nurse role.
- Summarize the resources and support available to charge nurses, enabling them to leverage these tools in their practice.
