NICU Critical Skills Day (2026)

The goal of the activity is to improve HALO (high acuity, low occurrence) knowledge and skills of clinicians in the NICU. Team members will participate in simulations and skills stations to enhance critical skills and procedural knowledge to provide better, safer patient care.

Learning Objectives

1. Demonstrate effective use of defibrillation and cardioversion

2. Apply evidence-based guidelines during the provision of high acuity neonatal care

3. Evaluate interprofessional team dynamics during patient decompensation events

4. Demonstrate advanced airway management techniques

5. Demonstrate advanced vascular access techniques

6. Demonstrate effective centesis and thoracotomy skills

7. Review steps for exchange transfusion
