Dr. Berul's research focuses on development and application of novel techniques for pacing and defibrillation in children with congenital heart disease. Over the past 3 decades, his lab has focused on the unique needs of pediatric arrhythmia patients and the research specific for this population. In 2009, he joined the faculty of the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation to further the translational cardiology research efforts. These synergistic efforts of bioengineers and clinician-scientists allowed for collaborative brainstorming, testing of novel ideas and development of new tools and techniques for use in children with heart rhythm abnormalities and congenital heart disease.
