Eve Shuman

Eve serves as the government affairs manager addressing federal executive actions, legislation, and matters impacting Children’s National Hospital. In this role Eve works with hospital leadership, clinicians, and staff to advocate for the needs of the Hospital and its patients at the federal level. Eve liaises with Members of Congress, the White House, and federal agencies, providing a pediatric perspective to proposed legislation and regulations.
Eve attended Binghamton University, graduating in 2007 suma cum laude with a dual degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Law and History. She went on to Cornell Law School, becoming an editor of the Cornell Law Review. After graduating law school, Eve began practicing family law litigation in New York City and eventually Maryland, protecting spouses, parents, and children in emotionally fraught litigation.
In 2016, Eve left the practice of law to join the Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign. Answering the call for public service, Eve joined the staff of U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen in 2017. There she worked as a caseworker, specializing in immigration matters, and later, as the Senator’s Regional Director in Prince George’s County, advising him on County legislation and policy; organizing community events; and managing the Senator’s relationships with County leaders and the community at-large.
In 2023, Eve joined the staff of the first woman to ever be elected as Maryland’s Comptroller, Brooke Lierman, as her Director of Intergovernmental Affairs. In this role, Eve acted as the primary liaison between the agency of nearly 1,000 employees and municipal, county, and federal government.
Eve lives in Riverdale Park, Maryland with her husband, Jay, and daughters, Amelia (7) and Blair (5).
