Chelsey Bowman, PhD, CMPC

Dr. Chelsey Bowman is a licensed sport psychologist and Certified Mental Performance Consultant® in the Division of Psychology and Behavioral Health at Children's National Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and of Pediatrics at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC. At Children’s National, she works in the Safe Concussion Outcome Recovery & Education Program and Sports Medicine Clinic. She previously worked in the Pediatric Pain Medicine Program at Children’s National. Dr. Bowman completed her graduate school training in Counseling Psychology at Boston University, completed her internship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center - The Zucker Hillside Hospital in the Clinical Child Psychology Track, and completed her fellowship in Behavioral Pain Medicine at Children's National.
Across these clinics, Dr. Bowman helps athletes cope with injuries, manage emotions in and out of sport, optimize performance, and return to sport following a concussion, surgery, or other injury. She is passionate about translating evidence-based practice and research into practical and sport-relevant programming and treatment. Her research interests include the health and well-being of athletes, and she has received two grants from the National Collegiate Athletic Association to pursue these interests. She also serves on the Medical Advisory Committee for USA Football and the Health and Safety Committee for USA Lacrosse.
