Navigating Transport Team Dynamics August 2025
This course equips participants with tools to improve communication and teamwork in patient transport settings. It covers strategies to overcome communication barriers using SBAR, call-out, check-back, and handoffs, and emphasizes the role of effective leadership, situational monitoring, and mutual support. Through team events and simulations, participants practice applying feedback and communication techniques to enhance team performance and patient care.

Learning Objectives
- Analyze common barriers to effective team communication which lead to ineffective patient care. Participants will apply communication strategies including SBAR, call-out, check back, and handoffs in order to overcome these barriers and improve communication within the team.
- Participants will analyze and apply brief, huddle, and debrief to promote effective communication between team members in the transport environment. Participants will have tools to develope a shared mental model to progress towards a patient care goal. Participants will apply the skills to function as a good leader in the transport environment.
- Apply feedback as a tool for improving teamwork and communication. Participants will run simulations acting in different roles of a team to facilitate the care of a patient using communication strategies to practice new skills acquired.
