Learning Objectives:
- Discuss anesthesia considerations for children with medical complexity (what volume of meds can they still be given through the gastrostomy while NPO, which high priority types of medications should be given despite being NPO, how to advise parents of children with medical complexity on the neurologic impact of anesthesia post operatively)
- Identify who needs an anesthesia consult and how is it determined which patients will go to the PICU vs. the floors after a procedure
- Discuss how best to streamline the process of requesting anesthesia for sedation for procedures on weekends/evenings vs. “regular” hours
- Review regional/procedural pain management options are available to inpatients
