Description
The primary aim of this program is to deepen healthcare professionals' understanding of the pathophysiology, prevention, and treatment strategies for pressure injuries, with a particular focus on hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPIs). The program also seeks to increase familiarity with the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) data collection framework, emphasizing its role in accurately tracking pressure injury prevalence and improving overall patient safety.

- Analyze the pathophysiology and risk factors of pressure injuries, including those related to medical devices, to improve early detection and intervention.
- Apply evidence-based prevention and treatment strategies for hospital-acquired pressure injuries, focusing on skin assessment, repositioning, moisture management, device rotation, and support surface utilization.
- Assess pressure injuries accurately, including their staging and documentation in the EMR, to enhance timely and appropriate interventions.
- Interpret organizational pressure injury data in conjunction with NDNQI benchmarking to drive quality improvement and data-driven pressure injury decision making.
