Core Learning Objectives (All Participants)

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

1. Apply safety practices to identify patient care risks, assess the environment and equipment, and implement appropriate interventions to prevent patient harm.
2. Apply evidence-based interventions to safely assess, de-escalate, escalate, and manage patient agitation and behavioral emergencies in accordance with hospital policy.
3. Apply best practices for cervical collar assessment, care, maintenance, and replacement to support patient safety and skin integrity.
4. Demonstrate safe emergency evacuation procedures, including appropriate use of the Med Sled, to support timely and effective patient evacuation.

RN-Specific Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, registered nurses will be able to:

1. Evaluate medication orders for accuracy and apply appropriate calculations, dilutions, and administration techniques to safely deliver pediatric medications according to institutional guidelines.
2. Assess EVD function, interpret EVD and ICP monitoring data, and apply evidence-based sterile technique to safely manage EVD systems, including EVD drainage bag changes, to support optimal neurologic outcomes and patient safety.
