Tamara U. Carey, LICSW, is a native of Bordentown, New Jersey. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Rutgers University in 1996 and her Master of Social Work from Temple University in 1998. After relocating from Philadelphia to the DMV area in 2011, Mrs. Carey continued her dedication to serving children and families through her work in the child welfare system as a social worker. She later advanced her career at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, where she serves as a child forensic interviewer and advocate.

She is also the founder of Journey to Self, an inspiring and experiential transformational group designed to empower women to explore within, grow intentionally, and live their fullest, most authentic lives.

In addition to her professional work, Mrs. Carey expresses her creativity through poetry and visual arts. Her artistic talents have been showcased at various venues, where she has both performed and exhibited her work.
