Allison Jackson, MD, MPH

Dr. Allison M. Jackson is a nationally recognized expert in child abuse pediatrics. She serves as Division Chief of the Child & Adolescent Protection Center at Children’s National Hospital and as Professor of Pediatrics at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. For more than 25 years, she has advanced efforts to improve clinical care, expand trauma‑informed services, and support vulnerable children and families.
As Division Chief, Dr. Jackson leads initiatives to sustain access to specialized child abuse pediatricians and trauma‑focused mental health services, while strengthening cross‑sector partnerships that improve practice regionally and nationally. She is also a dedicated educator and advocate, training professionals across disciplines to effectively respond to intrafamilial trauma.
Dr. Jackson serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Academy on Violence and Abuse, Co-Chair of the DC Children’s Justice Act Task Force, and is active in multiple professional societies focused on child maltreatment and prevention. She has authored numerous publications and served as editor of the 2025 Pediatric Clinics of North America issue on child maltreatment.
Her contributions have been recognized nationally, including the 2024 Visionary Voice Award, the 2019 Washingtonian of the Year honor, and the inaugural Washington Children’s Foundation Endowed Professor in Child & Adolescent Protection at Children’s National Hospital. Through her clinical work, scholarship, and advocacy, Dr. Jackson continues to advance the protection and well‑being of children affected by trauma.
