Lanae Holmes serves as the Executive Director of the Family Advocacy Division at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in Alexandria, Virginia. A licensed clinical social worker, Lanae has focused her career on identifying, supporting, and advocating for the mental health and emotional support needs for families and survivors impacted by the crimes reported to NCMEC, since she joined the organization in 2007.

Lanae leads a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals and peer-based professionals in providing trauma-informed support and resources to families and survivors. Her work has led to the expansion of survivor-informed resources through NCMEC, greater visibility of the mental health needs for those experiencing traumatic events, and a more holistic approach to healing and self-care. In addition to supporting victims, Lanae also manages NCMEC’s workplace wellness program, Safeguard, designed to provide staff exposed to child sexual abuse material (CSAM) with effective and healthy coping skills, self-care strategies, and techniques to mitigate harm due to exposure.

A strategic leader and subject matter expert, she has represented NCMEC at national conferences and global forums that bridge the gap between survivor insights and child protection policy. Her work is defined by a commitment to innovation, resulting in the creation of national models for employee resiliency and lived-experience engagement.
