Chi An "Andy" Liu, MD, MS

Chi An “Andy” Liu, MD, MS is a pediatric intensivist and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, where he has practiced since 2024. He also serves as Associate Program Director of the Pediatric Residency Program at Georgetown, a role he assumed in July 2026. He completed his Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellowship at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and went on to complete a Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship at the University of North Carolina, where he also completed his pediatric residency. He holds board certifications in Pediatrics, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, as well as a Biomedical Ethics Certificate.
Dr. Liu has a deep commitment to medical education, having been recognized as Faculty of the Year by Georgetown residents in 2025 for fostering a safe, supportive, and growth-oriented learning environment. His teaching spans critical care physiology, simulation, and serious illness communication, including goals-of-care discussions and serious news delivery. His scholarly interests sit at the intersection of critical care and palliative medicine, with published work on tracheostomy decision-making and advance care planning in pediatric patients with serious illness.
