Anatomy Lab 08/08/2026
This hands-on anatomy lab is designed to strengthen the Transport Medicine Team’s understanding of airway, lung, vascular, and skeletal anatomy, emphasizing identification of key landmarks and anatomical variations relevant to clinical procedures. Participants will analyze patient scenarios to determine the need for advanced interventions—including ETT or LMA insertion, EZ-IO placement, and needle decompression—and apply appropriate anatomical knowledge and technique. Using cadaver-based simulation, participants will perform and return-demonstrate procedures following the DOTM protocol to validate competency for safe application in the clinical setting.

Learning Objectives
Learning Objective 1: Assess airway and lung anatomy, arterial, venous, and bone anatomy. Participants will independently assess anatomy, landmarks, and anomalies is relation to need for medical procedures.
Learning Objective 2: Analyze need for advanced procedure including ETT or LMA insertion, EZIO placement, needle decompression and proper technique on human anatomy. Participants will identify the need for advanced procedure and identify the anatomical locations and technique to using equipment.
Learning Objective 3: Apply skills to demonstrate the correct procedure following the DOTM protocol performing EZIO insertion, Needle Decompression Thoracostomy, LMA insertion, Direct Laryngoscopy, CMAC-PM, on cadavers provided to participants. Participants will return demonstration of procedures on cadaver in lab, showing correct technique to show competency in clinical setting.
