Amanda Nixon, LCSW, PhD Candidate
With more than a decade of trauma and disaster mental health experience, Amanda has supported first responders, survivors, and communities during some of the nation’s most significant crises, including the Pulse Nightclub Shooting, the Surfside Condo Collapse, the Tops Supermarket Shooting, the Robb Elementary School Shooting, Typhoon Mawar in Guam, multiple Gulf state hurricanes, and the Guadalupe River Flood in Texas.
Amanda specializes in working with first responders, disaster workers, military personnel, veterans, and professionals in high-stress industries. Her practice is grounded in trauma-informed care and evidence-based interventions that foster resilience and promote recovery.
She has served in leadership and response roles, including Director of the Volusia/Flagler Crisis Response Team, Disaster Mental Health Team with the American Red Cross, Mass Casualty & Disaster Support Specialist with Disaster & Victim Services International and the United Cajan Navy, and member of the Florida Crisis Response Team and Central Florida Disaster Medical Coalition.
Amanda is also committed to education and mentorship, serving as a preceptor and field supervisor for students in physician assistant, social work, and mental health programs at universities such as Nova Southeastern, Florida State, Bay Path, Liberty, and Walden, as well as a qualified supervisor for social workers seeking licensure.
She holds an MSW from the University of Central Florida, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Tennessee and Florida, a Qualified Supervisor in Florida for MSW graduates seeking licensure, and is completing her PhD in Psychology with a focus on trauma and disaster relief. Her specialized training includes EMDR, Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), Stress First Aid, and advanced crisis response, suicide prevention, and military/veteran support.
