Dr. Judy E. Davidson is considered a thought leader on the topic of suicide among healthcare professionals. Her research team has conducted many studies over the last decade establishing the fact that nurses are at risk of suicide. She implemented the first national nurse suicide prevention program which has been lauded by the Academy of Nurses as an Edgerunner: A model for replication. The collective work of Dr. Davidson, her research team and the suicide prevention program team have informed the Surgeon General Report on Healthcare Burnout, the CDC/AHA's healthcare professional suicide prevention toolkit for healthcare executives, the Future of Nursing report's call to action for suicide prevention among nurses, and the Academy of Nurses concensus paper on suicide prevention of nurses.
