Kirsten Das, MD

Kirsten Das, MD, is originally from Boston but has long called the DMV her home. She first landed in Washington, D.C., for her undergraduate education at George Washington University where she studied public health and biology. It is there where she developed her passion for teaching. She completed a graduate certificate program in LGBTQ Health Policy and Practice before attending medical school at the University of Massachusetts. While in medical school, she developed a love for research and patient advocacy. She conducted research at The Fenway Institute and graduated Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) and received the Massachusetts Medical Society Award. She went to obstetrics and gynecology residency at George Washington University where she served as education and then administrative chief. She completed her pediatric and adolescent gynecology fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Children’s National Hospital.
Dr. Das is passionate about expanding our understanding of both rare and common gynecological conditions that occur in kids and adolescents. Her current research efforts are largely focused on individuals with MRKH Syndrome (Müllerian agenesis) as well as individuals with other anomalies or differences of the reproductive tract and endometriosis.
She also is passionate about vulvovaginal conditions in pediatric patients and navigating typical pubertal changes. Dr. Das is leading the female fertility preservation efforts at Children's National – helping female patients and their families navigate fertility options prior to and after gonadotoxic treatments.
Dr. Das enjoys working as a team with kids and young people and their families in all their gynecologic needs from birth through young adulthood.
