Sarah Schaffer DeRoo, MD, MA

Sarah Schaffer DeRoo, MD, MA is a general pediatrician at Children’s National Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. After earning her medical degree from the University of Maryland, she completed her pediatrics residency at the University of California, San Francisco. In her primary care practice, she regularly counsels families on a wide range of topics related to both sick and well child care and has a special interest in preventive care and immunizations. Her research interests include shared medical decision making, preventive medicine, immunization delivery, vaccine hesitancy, and clinician-family communication. She is an independently-funded physician investigator and currently serves as principal investigator on an NIH-funded study designed to characterize and facilitate shared medical decision making in pediatric primary care.
