Dr. Danisha Jenkins is a dedicated nurse-scholar, educator, and health system leader whose career bridges acute care, disaster response, ethics, justice, and academic research. She serves as an educator at San Diego State University School of Nursing, where she teaches healthcare finance, policy, and ethics. Dr. Jenkins has held multiple clinical leadership positions throughout San Diego, most recently the System Director of Disaster Response and Strategic Innovation at Sharp HealthCare.
Her research and scholarship focus on institutional power structures, moral injury in clinical settings, and the biopolitical intersection of nursing, ethics, and carceral logics. She earned her PhD in Nursing Science from the University of California, Irvine and her Masters in Nurse Executive leadership from Purdue University. Dr. Jenkins served on the advisory board for the Center for Ethics and Human Rights, as an Expert Panelist for the 2025 revision go the ANA Code of Ethics, and has been recognized for her advocacy work around racial equity, ethics, and the role of nursing beyond institutional confines.
