Sophia Fantus
Sophia Fantus, PhD, MSW, HEC-C is an Associate Professor and MSW Program Director at University of Texas at Arlington’s School of Social Work. Dr. Fantus’ research explores moral distress, moral injury, and well-being across the health and human services. Dr. Fantus is a certified healthcare ethics consultant and completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical ethics at Baylor College of Medicine. As a clinical ethicist, she conducted moral distress debriefs and resolved ethical dilemmas surrounding end-of-life and/or continuum of care treatment decisions. She has in-depth knowledge of health systems and has sat on system-wide ethics committees and transplantation boards. Dr. Fantus is. a trained qualitative researcher, with expertise in healthcare ethics. She has published in high-impact factor peer reviewed journals and been invited to speak at regional, national, and international conferences and health systems on moral distress and ethical decision-making.
