Lauren Clark, RN, PhD, FAAN, FAAIDD
Lauren Clark, PhD, RN, FAAN, is Professor and Shapiro Family Endowed Chair in Developmental Disability Studies in the School of Nursing and Disability Studies Program at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Dr. Clark studies Care Work, meaning the bonds of labor and love that keep people living ‘the good life.’ In a convergence of the personal and political, her career pivoted to address care work and developmental disability. Her most recent research examines care work in two groups: parents who lack trust in vaccinations for their children with disabilities, and women whose reproductive lives are shaped by disabling body events. At UCLA, Dr. Clark teaches a class on care work and disability justice. Her goal is to prepare future medical and nursing students to be disability-competent.
