Laura Nicholson, MSN RN CPN CHSE
Laura has worked at Children’s National Medical Center since 1997 where she was a staff nurse on a pediatric acute care floor till 2007 when she transitioned to a clinical nurse educator. Laura became a simulation education specialist in 2016. Laura was part of the 2018 cohort in the National League for Nursing Leadership Development Program for Simulation Educators; Attended the Maryland Clinical Resource Consortium (MCSRC) in 2017; and has been certified as a Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) since 2018.
Simulation work includes interprofessional in situ simulation program for nurses and residents on acute care, 1st Five minutes of a code blue program, and deteriorating patient simulations throughout the organization. Laura has several simulation-based Publications which include “Innovative Hospital-Based Pediatric Virtual Learning for Nursing Students;” “Successful implementation of a Novel Collaborative Interprofessional Educational Curriculum for Nurses and Residents in a Pediatric Acute Care Setting; and “Creation of a “Patient” Hospital Escape Room Experience to Reduce Harm and Improve Quality of Care.”
