Katherine Williamson, MS OTR/L
Katherine Williamson has been part of Children’s National Hospital since 2014, with a focused clinical and systems-level career supporting children with autism, neurodevelopmental disabilities, and behavioral health needs. She has spent the past decade working with the Autism, Behavior, and Communication (ABC) team and currently serves as the Program Manager, leading interdisciplinary efforts to improve access, experience, and outcomes for neurodivergent patients across the hospital setting.
Katherine is an autism specialist with extensive experience in inpatient, outpatient, and acute care environments, supporting children with complex medical, sensory, and behavioral needs. Her work emphasizes regulation-first, trauma-informed, and family-centered approaches that reduce distress, increase participation in care, and eliminate reliance on restraint or coercion.
She is deeply committed to building healthcare systems that truly work for every child and family and to equipping healthcare professionals with practical, compassionate strategies that translate into real-world practice. Katherine also serves as an adjunct faculty member in the Occupational Therapy Department at George Washington University where she supports the training of future clinicians committed to inclusive and equitable care.
