Kathleen Ferrer, MD
Dr. Kathy Ferrer is an attending faculty physician in the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Division and HIV Prevention and Treatment Program in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Children’s National Hospital in Washington DC. She is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. At Children’s National, she serves as the Education Lead of the Global Health Initiative, Medical Director of Occupational Health, and Medical Lead for the Kovler Immigrant Health Program. Nationally, as a global health educator, she serves on the Steering Committee of the Global Health Learning Forum for the Association of Pediatric Program Directors. Prior to joining Children’s National, she lived in Lesotho where she served as the Medical Director of the Baylor College of Medicine Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Clinical Centre of Excellence, assisting with the scale-up of pediatric HIV prevention, care, and treatment for the country. Dr. Ferrer received her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Brown University before attending Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in her home state of New Jersey. She completed her Residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and now lives with her wife in Washington DC.
