Dr. Amatya is the psychologist for the nephrology and Advanced Cardiac Therapies services at Children's National Hospital and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at The GW School of Medicine. He completed his pediatric psychology training at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine before joining CNH in 2017. His clinical interests include interventions to improve medical adherence, adjustment to diagnosis and treatment, and readiness for transition to adult care. Dr. Amatya’s research interests include quality of life assessment, barriers to adherence, transition readiness, and psychosocial factors associated with adherence and long-term adjustment in pediatric transplant patients and their families. He is passionate about advocating for children’s needs and serves as an Affiliate Faculty with the Child Health Advocacy Institute at CNH.
