Sukhjit King, DNP, MS, MBA, NI-BC, NE-BC, CHSE, FAAN
Dr. Simmy King is the Chief Nursing Informatics and Education Officer at Children's National Hospital and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She spearheads the development and strategic implementation of information systems, technology, and education to improve nursing and interprofessional practice. She has made significant contributions to the field of nursing education and technology integration, fostering academic-practice partnerships, preparing nurses for practice, and increasing diversity in the nursing workforce.
She is a leader in trauma-informed care, having developed and disseminated a validated tool to assess knowledge, attitude, and practice related to trauma-informed care, which has been adopted across academic and practice settings worldwide. Dr. King has been an appraiser for the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Practice Transition Accreditation Program since 2021. She is also actively involved in leadership roles, including Treasurer of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) Board of Directors, At-Large Member of the Virginia Organization for Nursing Leadership (VONL) Board of Directors, and Commissioner for the City of Fairfax Commission for Women. In her role as Commissioner, she provides counsel to city leadership regarding legislative and policy issues affecting women and girls, striving to address their requirements, dismantle discriminatory barriers, and pursue equality.
Dr. King earned her DNP from The George Washington University, an MBA/MHA from the University of Maryland Global Campus, and a BSN from the University of Toronto. She is an inaugural Distinguished Alumni for the George Washington University School of Nursing and was inducted into the American Academy of Nursing in 2022.
