Science Journeys Professional Development Workshop
We are excited to offer a training opportunity for Activity Coordinators, Educators, Child Life Assistants, and similar professions/roles to learn about “Science Journeys”, an NIH funded hands-on STEM initiative designed to support children and families navigating hospitalization and complex medical care. Through interactive STEM activities, Journeys helps young patients better understand their own health conditions and the medical processes they experience, fostering a sense of autonomy and engagement in their care.
This training will provide you with the knowledge and resources to bring Science Journeys activities to your patients and create a more holistic, engaging, and educational health experience.
During the training, we will introduce you to the program’s core activities and show you how to integrate them into your approach with patients. You will learn how to run hands-on STEAM-based projects to empower young patients, support their emotional well-being, and build their STEM identities - all while enhancing their understanding of their medical journey.
A certificate of completion will be offered upon successful completion of this course and the pre- and post-test.
