FACE Rare: Palliative Care Needs of Children with Rare Disease and Families
The CE program will support the learning for a targeted group of healthcare participants to discuss advance care planning for paediatric patients in varied settings. Advance care planning requires effective communication to clarify the goals of care and establish agreement on what treatments may or may not be appropriate to achieve these goals, including resuscitative and palliative measures.

Learning Objective 1:
Demonstrate knowledge of benefits of (stage-specific) ACP conversations.
Learning Objective 2:
Demonstrate the application of skills in the family-centered decision-making framework to elicit treatment preferences and decisions.
Learning Objective 3:
Demonstrate skill in transferring individual goals, values, and preferences to a written plan, i.e. an advance directive.
Learning Objective 4:
Demonstrate skill in facilitating Next Steps pACP conversations through simluated interviews with standardized patients, resulting in certification, using competency based criteria.
