Lillian Nalwoga, MBChB, MPH, FAAP

Dr. Lillian Nalwoga is a board-certified general pediatrician and attending faculty physician in the Division of General Academic Pediatrics at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk, Virginia. She also serves as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Co-Director of the Pediatric Clerkship at Old Dominion University and Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS).
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Nalwoga is deeply involved in medical education. She teaches and mentors both residents and medical students and was honored with the 2024 EVMS/CHKD Faculty Teaching Award in General Pediatrics.
Dr. Nalwoga earned her medical degree from Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Uganda and holds a Master’s in Public Health from the University of London. Prior to moving to the United States, she spent nearly a decade working with Baylor College of Medicine / Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Clinical Centre of Excellence in Lesotho, where she cared for children and families affected by HIV while also training local medical providers and U.S. medical residents. She later completed her pediatric residency training at EVMS/CHKD.
In 2022, she returned to CHKD to join the General Academic Pediatrics practice and the faculty of Pediatrics. She finds great fulfillment in building lasting relationships with the children she cares for—who will become our future doctors, scientists, artists, and scholars.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Nalwoga enjoys spending time with her family and exploring new adventures throughout Hampton Roads, across the country, and around the world. Born in Uganda, a landlocked country that straddles the equator, she has an unexpected love of both snow skiing and snorkeling.
