Jarae Payne, Jarae R. Payne, MSN, CPNP-AC
Jarae Payne is a Nurse Practitioner in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She joined the CICU team in 2012 as a clinical nurse and has held many roles, including charge nurse, primary preceptor, EMCO specialist, clinical resource nurse, navigator program mentor, and roles within CHOP's shared governance. In 2021, Jarae transitioned to a Nurse Practitioner in CHOP's CICU and completed a per diem tenure as a Nurse Practitioner at the University of Maryland Medical Center in their PICU/CICU from 2021 to 2023. Currently, Jarae is the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Team Lead. She has also led quality improvement projects in DEI and participated in research. The latter focused on understanding the incidence of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) in the CICU's shunt-dependent patients, featured as poster presentations in 2024 at PCICS and AHA. She plans to continue collaborating with others in a multidisciplinary and multicenter approach to help guide how our community approaches NEC.
