Asia Reed, MSN, RN, CPN
Asia Reed-Briggs, MSN, RN, CPN is a Professional Development Specialist (PDS) in the Nursing Education and Professional Development department at Children’s National Hospital (CNH) in Washington, D.C. In 2016, I graduated with my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Bowie State University and started my nursing career in the Pediatric Nurse Residency (PNR) Program at CNH. Throughout my years at CNH, I have been in the role of preceptor, charge nurse, shift coordinator, and chair/co-chair of the Professional Development Council at the system level. One of my biggest accomplishments at CNH was being accepted as one of the first Conway Pathway Mentors where I was given the opportunity to support our future nurses in reaching milestones prior to becoming a Registered Nurse. Through this mentoring process, I was able to successfully obtain my Master’s of Science in Nursing Education in 2020 from University of Phoenix. In my current role, I serve as a lead facilitator for the Critical Care/EMTC/Acute Care PNR nurse residents, lead the Charge Nurse Workshop, lead the peer-to-peer mentoring program, and serve as training center faculty for the AHA training center at CNH. In 2022, I was given the opportunity to present my mentoring work “It Takes Two to Make Everything Alright” at the ANCC PTAP conference. These educational opportunities continue to help me grow as both an individual and leader. I have a passion for educating, encouraging, motiving, inspiring, and engaging others in various aspects of life especially within the nursing field.
