Debra Herrmann, DHSc, MPH, PA-C

Debra (Dee Dee) Herrmann, DHSc, MPH, PA-C, is an Associate Professor in the Division of Physician Assistant Education and Sciences at the University of Utah's Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the GW Department of Physician Assistant Studies. She holds a Doctor of Health Science degree with a focus on educational fundamentals.
As Director of the GW SMHS Master Teacher Leadership Development Program and the Center for Faculty Excellence, she led and continues to lead faculty development initiatives for health professions educators, scholars, and leaders at the local, national, and international levels. Her work in fostering psychological safety, providing effective feedback, and advancing professional identity formation highlights her significant influence and commitment to educational excellence.
Dr. Herrmann has received recognition such as the 2025 GW Morton A. Bender Teaching Award, the 2024 GW Academic Medical Enterprise Pillars of Excellence Award, and the National Physician Assistant Educator Association Faculty Rising Star in 2011.
Her research interests include professional practice transitions, professional identity formation, professional development, performance improvement, clinical reasoning, curriculum design and evaluation, and educational innovation.
