Andrew Freiman, MS, CGC

Andrew Freiman, MS, CGC, is a board-certified genetic counselor within the Rare Disease Institute at Children's National Hospital, and a faculty member of the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. His clinical interests include nephrogenetics, cardiogenetics, variations in sex characteristics, and sex chromosome aneuploidies. With a passion for patient-centered care, Andrew specializes in helping individuals and families understand their genetic risks, navigate complex genetic information, and make informed healthcare decisions.
Andrew earned a master’s degree in Genetic Counseling from Columbia University, New York, NY and his Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology from Grand Valley State University, Allendale, MI. He also holds certification from the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
Beyond clinical practice, Andrew is dedicated to advancing the field of genetics through research, education, and advocacy. He actively participates in professional organizations such as the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) and contributes to the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) Rare Disease Center of Excellence Policy and Advocacy working group. He is committed to promoting equitable access to genetic services and improving care for individuals with rare and complex conditions.
