Dr. Clark, Professor and Shapiro Family Endowed Chair in Developmental Disability Studies, UCLA School of Nursing & UCLA Disability Studies, studies Care Work, meaning the bonds of labor and love that keep people living ‘the good life.’ In a convergence of the personal and political, her career pivoted to address care work and developmental disability. Her most recent research examines care work in two groups: parents who lack trust in vaccinations for their children with disabilities, and women whose reproductive lives are shaped by disabling body events. At UCLA, Dr. Clark teaches a class on care work and disability justice. Her goal is to prepare future medical and nursing students to be disability-competent.
