Lecture Description:
Discussion of the historical factors involved in the emergence of pandemic infectious diseases as well as the preparation and responses to certain iconic emerging infections such as pandemic influenza, HIV/AIDS, Ebola, and COVID among others.
Learning Objectives:
1. At the conclusion of this educational activity, participants should be able to understand the factors involved in the emergence of new pathogens and their evolution into pandemic threats.
2. Understand the factors involved in the preparation and response to pandemic threats.
3. Become familiar with certain historic pandemics that have afflicted mankind.
