Summary:

In recent years, the term "trauma" has become more prevalent in everyday conversations, often used to describe the mental and emotional impact of a particular event. But what does trauma truly mean? This presentation will provide clarity on the clinical definition of trauma and explore how it manifests in the brain and nervous system. To deepen this understanding, we will examine two key trauma modalities: Polyvagal Theory and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). By delving into these perspectives, we aim to foster a greater appreciation for how trauma can be identified, addressed, and supported in those who have experienced it.
