Lower Extremity Splinting Workshop: Jennifer Tran and Emily Willner
1. Describe the general principles of splinting material and application
2. Formulate a plan for immobilization of common upper extremity fractures using the following splints:
- Posterior short leg
- Stirrup
- Posterior long let
- Knee immobilizer
- Practice the application of the following upper extremity splints:
- Long leg posterior
- Stirrup
EM/HM: Dr. Branson and Dr. Frost
- Evaluate the evidence for use of IM epinephrine and Mg boluses (including
multiple doses) in status asthmaticus
- Consider when nebulized albuterol may be preferable to MDI albuterol,
weighing evidence with practical considerations in the hospital setting
- Review the PEWS scoring system and criteria for asthma management on the
acute care floor
- Discuss how PEWS/criteria for acute care floor admission should or should
not impact an ED disposition decision
