Objectives:
- Explain how the 2021 AAP Clinical Practice Guidelines in the evaluation of the febrile infant factor in the decision to pursue the first LP and subsequent attempts
- Discuss factors that impede (or promote) LP success in the initial and subsequent attempts
- Identify which neonates with fever are likely to require a prolonged course of antibiotics if an LP cannot be obtained
- Develop a model to determine if, when, and how repeat LPs should be attempted after initial attempts are unsuccessful.
