Anjna Melwani is a pediatric hospitalist attending at Children's National Hospital in Washington DC. She is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the George Washington University of Medicine and Health Sciences.  She has been the hospitalist director of the Preoperative Care Clinic at Children's National Hospital since 2010.  She has gained national recognition for her leadership in perioperative care in the pediatric population and was previously Chair of the AAP Section of Hospital Medicine Subcommittee of Surgical Care.  She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Kansas, medical degree at Howard University College of Medicine and pediatric residency at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.  Her scholarly expertise is in perioperative care and complex care, specifically optimizing the care of complex children in emergenicies and surgeries.  In her free time, she lives in Northern Virginia with husband and two kids and enjoys traveling and exploring new cultures.
