Craig Shapiro, MD

Craig Shapiro, MD, is a member of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Children’s National Hospital. He is the medical director of Children’s outpatient antimicrobial stewardship program and leads the Infectious Diseases Inpatient Telemedicine Program. He is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. A graduate of Colgate University and the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, Dr. Shapiro completed pediatric residency training at Children’s National Medical Center/George Washington University and fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. His research interests involve applying quality improvement processes to develop better efficiency in antibiotic ordering and diagnostic testing for Infections.
