Series Description
The goal of this activity is to advance the clinical and professional competencies of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) across Children’s National by providing structured, APP‑specific education informed directly by the 2025 APP Needs Assessment Survey. Survey respondents identified a strong desire for recurring educational offerings focused on both clinical topics and essential non‑clinical domains such as leadership, quality improvement, patient safety, communication, and research. The APP Educational Presentation Series is designed to address these identified practice gaps and to enhance the ability of APPs to deliver high‑quality, consistent, and safe patient care. The series will provide evidence‑based clinical updates, specialty‑specific learning, and applied skills in non‑clinical areas that directly influence patient outcomes, team collaboration, and operational excellence. To provide better and safer patient care, the target audience—APPs across inpatient, outpatient, and procedural settings—needs opportunities to: Strengthen clinical decision‑making through current evidence‑based guidelines; Enhance skills in leadership, teamwork, communication, and conflict management to support safer care environments; Apply quality improvement principles to identify and address system‑level gaps; Understand and participate in research and evidence‑generation activities that inform clinical practice; and improve interdisciplinary collaboration and care coordination across the care continuum. This activity aims to cultivate a culture of continuous professional development, elevate the clinical and non‑clinical capabilities of APPs, and ultimately enhance patient safety, quality, and consistency of care throughout the institution.
