Jessica Herstek, MD

Jessica Herstek is Chief Medical Informatics Officer and an attending physician in pediatric hospital medicine at Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC. Dr. Herstek has over a decade of experience in clinical informatics, integrating medical and technological expertise to improve the hospital experience and care for children, families, and clinicians. She has a proven track record of collaborative and creative problem-solving and has been a tireless advocate for the advancement of technology solutions for pediatric patient safety, health equity, and clinician workflow challenges.
Dr. Herstek studied computer science engineering and robotics at the University of Pennsylvania and attended medical school at the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. She trained in pediatrics at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford with an aim to combine her backgrounds in technology and medicine, earning board certification in Clinical Informatics by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in 2018. At Children’s National she leads clinical informatics and training, digital health solutions, biomedical engineering, and clinical AI governance.
