Anita Patel, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Attending in Pediatric Critical Care
Anita K Patel MD is a double board-certified Pediatrician and Pediatric Critical Care Attending at Children’s National Medical Center and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania with a major in neuroscience and minor in health care management. She subsequently attended the University of Virginia School of Medicine for medical school, followed by pediatric residency at Cornell University-New York Presbyterian Hospital, and finally completed a pediatric critical care fellowship at Columbia University-New York Presbyterian Hospital. She is currently a K23 NIH-NICHD funded researcher specializing in big data and AI-driven predictive analytics with a content expertise in severity of illness and pain, sedation and delirium management in critically ill children. She was recently accepted into the prestigious Society for Pediatric Research through the Pediatric Academic Society. Dr. Patel co-founded and co-leads the CTSA special interest group, “Docs in Data Science” with Dr. McKinley, which seeks to bring together physician scientists who have an interest in big data and AI driven technologies.
