Katie Shrader is a seasoned communications professional with over 20 years of experience in journalism, project management, and strategic communications. She spent the first ten years of her career in prominent national newsrooms, providing training that taught her to work quickly and efficiently. She’s interviewed presidents, CIA directors, and even individuals on the terrorist watchlist. In 2011, she opened her own consulting business to apply her skills to clients’ needs in areas including healthcare, politics, education, national security, and the advancement of women in leadership roles. She guided clients through projects to grow their businesses and enhance their reputations.
A graduate of the University of Virginia's College of Arts & Sciences, Katie joined the public relations team at Children’s National in September of 2022 as the senior communications specialist for research and innovation. Her portfolio is focused on the six centers of the Children’s National Research Institute.
Katie brings a unique perspective to pediatric healthcare and scientific research. She is the parent of a medically complex child who is a frequent flyer at Children’s National. She understands the need to translate and share our science for a range of audiences in ways that are accessible and engaging. Her goal—every day—is to help her clients educate and motivate their listeners.
