A. Personal Statement
My primary research and clinical interests involve supportive and palliative care for children with cancer. I am board certified in both hematology/ oncology and palliative care and have worked extensively with patients undergoing cancer treatments. I co-run our supportive care program at Children’s National, which primarily focuses on conducting supportive care trials for children with cancer. I have worked on multiple studies that relate to supporting children and families thorough cancer treatment which makes me well suited to participate in recruiting patients for this study.

C. Contributions to Science

I have worked with Dr. Pamela Hinds as part of the team validating the pediatric Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) measures in children with cancer and on the validation of the pediatric Patient Reported Outcome version of the CTCAE (PRO-CTCAE). In that role, I helped with the design, recruitment and analysis of the studies.
2. I have worked on other studies regarding supportive care for children with cancer, and lead our supportive care research program at Children’s National. I lead the Supportive, Personalized, Pharmacogenetics in Oncology Research & Treatment (SuPPORT) trial, which used pharmacogenetic testing on patients diagnosed with cancer to look for polymorphisms in genes frequently responsible for drug metabolism and to correlate those polymorphisms with the development of key toxicities, measured both by clinical indicators and by patient reported outcomes. Our team also conducts industry, consortium and single/multi-institutional studies.
